I am home from my first trip abroad! It was amazing and my first stop was Sweden to continue my study in Trölldom, Nordic Folk Medicine, with my teacher Johannes Björn Gårdbäck. Two of the things we covered were dropping stories and resourcing. Both are lovely things to consider this new moon in Leo (8/16). We are moving into late summer, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a season into itself. Moving through the seasons consciously is important for your wellbeing. We are over half way through this Chariot year, what has been working and what hasn’t? Where are you headed for the rest of the year?
DROPPING THE STORY
In Trölldom class we were constantly reminded to drop our stories. Often we unconsciously carry stories from that we actually aren’t true for us. We have been given ideas about what is right or wrong that can affect how we move through the world. Stories can change how we feel or behave and may even be harmful. They may be someone else’s experience. Dropping the story can allow you to meet things with an open perspective that will allow you to discover, create, explore, learn and grow. These ways of being allow you to align with your true nature.
I follow The Power Path and their new moon update says, “This new moon provides an excellent time frame to make changes in your “story”, especially any aspects that don’t feel good. The themes of worthiness, boundaries, balance and simplicity are ones to pay attention to as your emotional relationships with self, others, prosperity, havingness and self-worth are triggered. What about your current story causes stress, discouragement, confusion, or low self esteem? The heart is activated and anything that is not aligned with your inner emotional truth may be up for questioning.”
What stories can you drop this coming moon cycle?
RESOURCES
In class we covered resources. Herbs can be resources, oils, plants, sounds, songs, art, words, runes and friends can be resources. We created spells using resources and worked on adding resources to places and people who may need it.
Sarah Faith Gottesdiener’s Leo New Moon from Many Moons is about [Re]sourcing yourself. She says, “To resources the self is to resources others.”
“Part of any spiritual path is to become completely yourself, shining your unique light out into the world. It sounds basic, but with so many external influences [stories], so many programs, so much brainwashing out there, this self becoming can be a major project. At the heart of this process is the ability to source from the Self to become self full which is distinct from selfishness. This must include the ability to connect with and be in your own home frequency; the unique energetic field only you can emit. Too many people have their other people's [stories] energy, hooks and cords distorting their own field. Too many people have outsourced their energy which includes their decisions behaviors, personality, and personal power to other people. When you are in your home frequency you are centered and aligned. You can source from yourself from the inner flame our personal son, and from our ability to connect to the earth and elements from nourishment.”
How can you resource yourself this moon cycle? How can you fill your cup? Where can you set your boundaries?
LATE SUMMER
Late summer in TCM is related to the Earth element and is ruled by the Stomach and the Spleen. Earth gives us the power to manifest, it is grounding. It governs thought, focus and concentration. If you are spinning out on an idea you might need to ground. Eating things can be very grounding. Digestion is linked to the nervous system and how well your processing food is a reflection. Savor a meal and walk or dance after you eat. Movement aids digestion, assimilation and distribution.
The lips, mouth and throat are associated with this element so sign. Take extra care of them this time of year. Notice how what you consume makes you feel. Sweet is the taste associated with this time of year and too much can be harmful for the spleen/pancreas and the teeth. Be mindful.
Centering yourself is resourcing yourself. There are 3 lines that help us find our center. The line between the left sided logical brain and the right intuitive and creative side. The line between the body and senses with the mind and thoughts, they communicate with each other. Finally the line between the internal world of senses, feelings, thoughts, and inner voice between the external world, with nature, environment and other people. Are there parts where you aren’t in balance between these 3 lines? Notice them to find your center.
You can breathe into your center and it’s science hugging a tree or standing barefoot on the earth is an easy way to ground. Notice if singing or reciting a poem or mantra helps ground or center you this time of year.
The bodily tissue associated with this season is the flesh and muscles so iff you’re feeling achy take a bath, use a foam roller or come get a session with me!
